Tubes

Last Friday was the day for John William to get his tubes.  Me, being the anxious worry-wort that I am, was thinking all sorts of things leading up to this.  I had been told over, and over, how easy the procedure was and how much better things would be afterward, but it was still my baby and he was going to be put to sleep for a bit, and that just concerned me.  We had to be at Children's Hospital in Birmingham at 7 on Friday and the hardest part of the day was not allowing John William to eat and keeping him happy until he went back about 10:00.  Children's Hospital is FABULOUS!  All the nurses and doctors were so nice and accommodating and very reassuring.  John William did great during the wait and actually seemed to be pretty excited about the day.  He was bouncing all around the place and 'talking' to anyone that would look his way.  He took about an hour and half nap in my arms during the wait, so that helped as well.  He went to the nurse great when it was time to go, and was gone about an hour.  When they brought him back to us the nurses kept saying how talkative and smiley he was.  I laughed, I was expecting a 'drugged' little boy that just wanted to sleep- but nope, he was ready to get on with the rest of the day!  He must get that from his daddy, because if I take any sort of medicine I'm ready for a nap (let's be honest- I'm ready for a nap at any time of any day!)

We are very thankful for many prayers for John William and his ears, and my crazy worrisome self.  Prayers were felt, and everything went smooth as silk!

The rest of the weekend was great as well.. we celebrated John William's first birthday.. more on that later!

The New Deck

The past two weekends Brett, along with help from some pretty awesome neighbors, added an addition to our back porch.  We knew from the beginning that we wanted our back deck to be a little bigger, it was just hard to find the time to make it happen!  Now that it is done, I am so thankful that is, John William and I have already enjoyed our time out there, and I know we will all summer long!!

I actually meant to take some before/during/after pictures-- but I failed.  Here are some pictures of John William and I enjoying it though!

Telling the bigger kids he was ready to play basketball!

we tested out the blow up bouncy house/ball pit that we'll be using for his birthday party, just to be sure he'd enjoy it over the weekend...

and he did!!

we've also been using our 'walker' in the yard.. he's ready to cut the grass!

Also...  I got a really great deal on a beautiful Armoire that I knew would go great in our bedroom.  I measured it and it was going to fit perfectly!  The only thing I didn't measure was the corner around the stairs to get this beautiful armoire up to our room.  Ooops.  A few bumps into the wall, shifting, and 3 strong men sweating it was decided it wasn't going in the normal way!  So over the weekend our neighbor Greg helped Brett get in a more unconventional way...

yes, that happened!  When there's a will... there's a way!!  Thank you Greg and Brett!!

We've also enjoyed some warm days and with that came an invitation to our friends heated pool!

I see lots of trips to the Skelton's pool this summer :)

Our little guy is getting very active, and we are just trying to keep up, while loving every minute of it!!  Can't believe he'll be one next week.  Ready or not. Here it comes!

Easter 2013

With the traveling we did over Spring Break, Brett and I made it a point that we would all be at our house for Easter.  Brett flew back in Sunday morning just in time for church.  Although it was a rainy cold day, we very much enjoyed our time together.  We reflected on the holiday and what it meant, and thanked God for all of his blessings.

During Sunday School there was an "Easter Celebration" held in the nursery area.  They had all sorts of games and of course an egg hunt.

each age group had their own pools filled with paper and about 100 eggs

John William was searching for balls ;)

His mommy and daddy were thrilled to eat the candy inside

we were happy to have Mrs. Sharon around for help!!

John William was especially glad to see this guy return!

with us not all being together before church, and then straight to nap after church, we failed to get a family picture when we were all dressed nice.. so this "selfie" in the recliner will have to do!

Since Aunt Ashley is in Mobile doing her clinicals she wasn't able to do one of her fab photo shoots with us for Easter.  A friend of mine told me about a "Mini Session" Scottie Jones Photography was doing here in Tuscaloosa, and for an awesome price, so we jumped on it, and I'm so glad we did!!  These turned out great, and I am so thankful!!  Thank you Scottie Jones Photography!!
here are just a  few...
